Alameda County Health Pipeline Partnership (ACHPP)
ACHPP is a consortium is a consortium of pathway programs and organizations that aim to increase the diversity of the healthcare workforce by providing mentorship, academic enrichment, leadership development, and career exposure to disadvantaged and minority youth. The Alameda County Public Health Department has served as the facilitator of the consortium since 2007. Members comprise fifteen different organizations that provide short-term and long-term opportunities to youth in middle school through college and graduate students from underserved communities throughout Alameda County.

Alameda Health System
Alameda Health System (ACMC) is a major public health care provider and medical training institution recognized for its world-class patient and family centered system of care.Through a welcomed partnership between patient, family and the healthcare team, AHS provides comprehensive, high quality medical treatment, health promotion, disease prevention and health maintenance in an integrated system of hospitals, clinics, and health services. As a training institution, AHS maintains an environment that is supportive of a wide range of educational programs and activities, including education of medical students, interns, residents, continuing education for medical nursing, and other staff, along with medical research.

Our mission is to maximize the recovery, resilience and wellness of all eligible Alameda County residents who are developing or experiencing serious mental health, alcohol or drug concerns. We envision communities where all individuals and their families can successfully realize their potential and pursue their dreams, and where stigma and discrimination against those with mental health and/or alcohol and drug issues are remnants of the past.

Community Health & Adolescent Mentoring Program for Success (CHAMPS) at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland
CHAMPS is the Community Health & Adolescent Mentoring Program for Success at Children’s Hospital Oakland. Formerly known as FACES for the Future, CHAMPS is a three-year internship program that introduces underrepresented minority high school students to health professions. The CHAMPS program collaborates with local high schools, health academies, colleges, universities, medical schools and residency programs. The objective of CHAMPS is to introduce underrepresented minority high school students to the health professions, assist them in getting into educational programs of their choice, and equip them with the necessary personal skills to succeed in these and other demanding pursuits.
The CHAMPS program is a three-year internship, starting 10th grade. Students receive an academic letter grade and high school credit for their participation and written work. Students receive classroom education and training relevant to the health care, academic tutoring, and college preparation activities, such as SAT preparation, personal statement writing, and financial aid workshops. Students also benefit from one-on-one case management to address students’ psychosocial needs. Each student will participate in six to eight-week clinical rotations in different hospital departments, and for senior students, paid clerkship's at the hospital, community clinics, private medical offices.

The University is regionally accredited by WSCUC and offers degrees in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, and podiatric medicine. SMU offers four doctoral degree programs, including podiatric medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing practice. Select degrees and certificates are also available online. Samuel Merritt University graduates improve health outcomes and reduce disparities for all members of our communities.

Highland Hospital- Emergency Department
Highland Emergency is composed of 40 EM residents, 15 full time faculty and 3 administrative assistants. Our mothership is Alameda Health System – Highland Hospital (formerly Alameda County Medical Center), in inner-city Oakland.

Kaiser Permanente Asian Association (KPAA) promotes the development of all Asian staff, thus utilizing their unique cultural heritage to enhance Kaiser Permanente’s competitive advantage and service to the community. The mission of our various cultural associations is to provide culturally competent medical care and culturally and linguistically appropriate services to improve the health and satisfaction of Kaiser Permanente’s increasingly diverse membership; enhance the diversity, cultural competence, skill, and performance of the Kaiser Permanente workforce; and facilitate membership growth through effective market segmentation approaches that target specific population.

University of California, San Francisco-Program in Medical Education for Urban Underserved (PRIME-US)
The Program in Medical Education for the Urban Underserved (PRIME-US) was created to serve the needs of both medical students wanting to work with predominantly minority and uninsured populations and people living in urban areas with limited access to quality healthcare services. The mission of PRIME-US is to nurture, support and equip medical students to carry out their goal of effectively providing healthcare to vulnerable urban populations.
